The Musical Odyssey of the Brain – Emmanuel BIGAND

What’s music? One might be tempted to reply that it’s a pleasant pastime or an art form, but nothing really essential…

Emmanuel Bigand, professor of cognitive psychology, has demonstrated the opposite in his book La Symphonie neuronale: music is a biological necessity for human beings, helping to build our brains and probably playing a decisive role in the survival of the species.

L’Odyssée Musicale du Cerveau is presented as a journey inside the brain, discovering the regions of the brain stimulated by music: inner ear, brain stem, auditory cortexes, language areas, motor areas, limbic system, memory networks… What a program!

In the form of a scientific cabaret, a string quartet and a singer will guide the audience through this auditory epic, using a range of musical styles (from contemporary creation to current popular music, via traditional repertoires).
